Villa Salvia, Historic estate with park and vineyards for sale in Chianti, Florence – Tuscany
REF. FIR195
In the hills of Chianti, south of Florence, Villa Salvia is a historic 15th-century residence. It overlooks the valley with elegance and scenic views of vineyards and olive groves. The original part was built as a hunting lodge for a noble Florentine family and later acquired by a branch of the De’ Medici. It still preserves the six “balls” — the bisanti — that give the property its name. The estate, protected by the Superintendency as a national historic monument, combines artistic value, agricultural vocation, and hospitality.
The main villa rises over three floors above ground, framed by two dovecote towers and two loggias. Moreover, a panoramic terrace opens onto the Chianti countryside. On the ground floor, a three-arched loggia leads to the foyer and reception rooms: study, living room, kitchen, and an oil storage room. The main floor hosts a magnificent hall. This hall overlooks both the terrace and the second loggia facing the internal garden. Between the first and second floors are living rooms, studies, dining rooms, and bedrooms with bathrooms. They extend up to the two towers and the attic floor, now used as storage, characterized by high ceilings with exposed wooden beams.
On the basement level, an evocative brick cellar tells the story of the estate’s winemaking tradition. Outside, a swimming pool has been created from an ancient 15th-century basin. It continues with the historic language of the place. The farmhouse, built in the second half of the 18th century in the style of Leopoldine houses, includes the Caretaker’s House on two levels. There are storage rooms on the ground floor and a residence on the first. Additionally, there are two independent guesthouses, eleven apartments in the hamlet, service rooms for the farm, and an olive mill with the ancient stone grinders still preserved. There are also two separate agricultural annexes.
The land extends to the southwest with olive groves and vineyards. To the north of the villa, it includes arable land, pasture, and woodland, offering an ideal balance between agricultural production and landscape conservation. The property is suitable as a private representative residence. It has a well-structured farm and agritourism business, in one of the most prestigious areas of Tuscany.
